In the General Biotechnology option, the emphasis will be on scientific and practical knowledge and skills in genetic engineering, plant and animal cell culture, bioprocess technology, hybridoma technology, agrotechnology and farm management as well as in good laboratory practice and quality management.
In the Medical Technology option, the course will emphasise on practical knowledge and laboratory techniques in pathology, haematology, clinical chemistry, blood banking, immunology, and histology as well as in good laboratory practice and quality management.
Practical training with industry for a period of
10 weeks after the first semester of second year will not only enable the
students to apply their acquired knowledge and understanding in both fields
of biotechnology and medical technology, but also enable them to develop
interpersonal communication skills in an actual working environment.
